Three lucky independent garages are today
celebrating after each winning a fantastic VW Up
car in a promotion held by NGK Spark Plugs (UK)
Ltd and Unipart Automotive.
They won the £8000 vehicles in the NGK ‘Plug &
Go’ scratch card game which was held throughout
Unipart’s 163-branch network from November 25
last year to January 31 this year.
Every time an independent garage bought NGK
spark plugs and glow plugs or an NTK Lambda
sensor from Unipart they received a scratch card
which gave them the chance to win thousands of
pounds worth of prizes with all the cards then
going into a draw to win one of the three vehicles.

Two of the winning garages collected their cars at a presentation ceremony held at Unipart
Automotive’s Bicester headquarters.
Directors Brian Murphy and Nigel Vickery, of Rumney Test & Service Centre in Cardiff, were
delighted with their prize.
Brian said: “It is fantastic to win the VW Up although it hasn’t really sunk in yet. When we
were first informed over the phone we thought it was a wind-up, but fortunately it’s true. We
haven’t decided yet how we will use the Up but it certainly looks a great car.”
The garage carries out MoT and repair and service work on all makes of vehicles from its
premises on the Alexandra Industrial Estate in Wentloog Road, Rumney.
Nigel said: “We have a good mixture of private and business customers and always try to use
quality products like NGK. I have been fitting NGK products for over 30 years and you know
when you fit them you will not have a problem with them.”

PRESSRELEASE
Winning the VW Up came at just the right time for
Simon Flavin, Co-owner of J & B Autos, of
Beeston, Nottingham.
He said: “We have recently been looking at buying
a new courtesy car so the Up will be ideal. It is
fantastic to win it and I have to say it looks a
quality vehicle.
“We always use top quality parts which is why we
use NGK spark plugs, glow plugs and sensors.
They are excellent products that you can trust. A lot
of our business is repeat business, or comes by
word of mouth recommendation so we like to do
the job properly first time which is why we use
NGK.”

The third winner was Arwyn Hughes, who runs Garej Arwyn Ltd in Caernarfon. The
company – which celebrates its 10th anniversary later this year – carries out servicing,
repairs and vehicle maintenance work including diagnostics, tyres and exhausts, as well as
handling fleet contracts with utility companies.
Arwyn said: “When I got a call to say I had won the VW Up car I couldn’t believe it and I still
can’t, I never win anything. We service many cars a day and therefore buy a lot of spark and
glow plugs from our local Unipart Automotive branch.”
Stuart Bayne, Sales Manager – North, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “It is the fifth time we
have held a promotion with Unipart and we are delighted with how it has gone.
“As a company we are always pleased to engage with our independent garage customers
and it is great to reward them for their continued loyalty by offering them the chance to win
some great prizes when purchasing our spark plugs, glow plugs and NTK Lambda sensors.
Thousands of prizes were given away and I am sure the three lucky winners are looking
forward to driving their new VW Up.”
Mel Threader, Category Manager, Unipart Automotive, said: “It has been great teaming up
with NGK for yet another year. This has been a successful promotion for our company and
I would like to thank all of the garages who participated. We will continue to support our
customers with quality product and excellent service - as well as more joint promotions with
the NGK team in 2014. Many congratulations to our lucky winners!”

Of course it wasn't just the three winners who
benefitted by taking part in NGK ‘Plug & Go’, as by
matching three identical symbols on the scratch
cards, garages received thousands of pounds
worth of instant prizes including Xbox Ones and
iPad Minis by purchasing the parts from Unipart
Automotive and Express Factors branches.
