Dr. John Dziadul was born in Scotia, New York and completed his undergraduate education at
Syracuse University in 1982 where he earned a BS degree in Biology. He is a 1986 graduate of
the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Dziadul completed a residency in Primary Care
Optometry at the Newington VA Medical Center in 1987, and a second Optometric Residency in
Low Vision at the West Haven VA Medical Center in 1988. He owned a private Optometric
practice in East Haven, Connecticut for 11 years. Dr. Dziadul was a staff Optometrist at the
Orlando VA Medical Center and at the Viera VA Outpatient Clinic in Florida from 2002-2013
and is certified in Advanced Competency in Medical Optometry.
Dr. Dziadul is currently a full-time Low Vision Optometrist at the Veteran’s Administration
Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina and is the Blind Rehabilitation Coordinator since
2013. Highlights of Dr. Dziadul's career include American Council of Optometric Education
Site Evaluation Team Consultant, Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the Pennsylvania College of
Optometry and Council on Optometric Practitioner Education Continuing Education Course
Reviewer.
Since February 2011, Dr. Dziadul has been a member-at-large on the Armed Forces Optometric
Society Executive Council and has served as the AFOS Meetings Committee Co-Chairman.
During his tenure he was a Delegate for AFOS at the American Optometric Association Annual
Meetings as well as the Chairman of the 2005 Federal Service Optometry Meeting in Orlando,
Florida. Dr. Dziadul is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and active in the AAO
having served as the Chairman of Region 2 for the Admittance Committee. He is also active in
the American Optometric Association serving as a member of the Publications and Education
Committee.
Dr. Dziadul’s publications have been in the areas of Primary Care Optometry, Low Vision and
Traumatic Brain Injury. He has served as a clinical skills examiner for the National Board of
Examiners in Optometry.
In his free-time, he enjoys offshore fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and spending time with his girls Dana,
Jenna and wife Colette.
