Evergas first Danish flagged vessel during China State visit
Evergas is pleased to announce that it has placed its new 12.000 cbm ethylene carrier JS Greenstone
under Danish flag in connection with HM The Queen of Denmark and HRH The Prince Consort State
visit to China. From the Danish delegation the ceremony was attended by The Director General of the
Danish Shipowners’ Association, Mrs. Anne H. Steffensen; Director General of the Danish Maritime
Authority, Mr. Andreas Nordseth; Chairman of Danish Shipowners’ Association and CEO of
Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN, Mr. Carsten Mortensen; amongst other dignified guests. The ceremony
was held on the 29 April 2014 at Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard in Qidong, China.
A modern and staunch fleet
Mrs. Anne H. Steffensen honoring Evergas & Jaccar Holdings as Godmother of the JS Greenstone,
says: “The name chosen for this vessel signals strength and firmness, and I am certain that this vessel
will be a staunch addition to the fleet of Evergas’ modern vessels and the first proudly to sail under the
Danish flag.”
Sustainable Maritime
Maritime trade enjoyed a key focus during the State Visit with special focus on further development of
sustainable maritime commerce and green shipbuilding. Evergas vessels are frequently calling China for
delivery of gas, and its current 20 firm vessel program of modern vessels – currently trading or under
construction – are all built in China. Evergas’ engagement in the State visit is thus a natural response to
its strong focus of deepening its close relations with China.
Martin Ackermann, CEO of Evergas says: “The Danish flag is a symbol of quality shipping, and we are
proud to add the Danish colors to our fleet. Our participation under the Danish flag demonstrates our
recognition of a competitive and sustainable Danish maritime environment and contributes to the
continued growth of Denmark as one of the world’s leading shipping nations.”
