14. General Summary of Function/Purpose of Position
This position will assist the Security Specialist with maintaining records and managing contracts for branch office
surveillance, alarm systems, security guards, and armored car service. The position will also occasionally travel to branch
offices for on-site evaluation of equipment or minor maintenance. This position will be privy to confidential matters and
investigations within the Bureau.

Provides administrative support to the Security Specialist

Update various security related databases
Update various equipment and security spreadsheets
Performs faxing, filing, copying duties
Performs scanning and maintains security specific folders on network
Assists with special projects, surveys and mailings.
Maintains manuals and security specific lists.
Orders supplies
Compile reports of statistical information
Assist with the design and implementation of systems for tracking equipment and inventory.
Provide solutions for integrating Excel worksheets with appropriate databases.
Prepares MS-87’s and routes for approval
Monitors security related purchase orders
Research local ordinances and Michigan laws
Requests, receives and reviews various vendor reports

Assists in the processes to handle internal customer requests in a timely manner

Keeps Emergency Contact Lists up to date
Prepares purchasing Itrac requests and supporting document for review
Schedules meetings and takes notes as necessary; prepares documentation for distribution
Perform initial troubleshooting service
Remotely check surveillance systems and report issues appropriately.

This position will assist the Security Specialist with maintaining records and managing contracts for branch office
surveillance, alarm systems, security guards, and armored car service. The position will occasionally travel to branch offices
for on-site evaluation of equipment or minor maintenance.

25. What is the function of the work area and how does this position fit into that function?
The Security Specialist reports to the Director of Branch Support Services Division within the Bureau of Branch Office
Services. The Security Specialist is responsible for contract compliance of security guards, armored car service, and alarm
services. The specialist is also responsible for the surveillance equipment in branch offices.
26. What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position.
EDUCATION:
Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
EXPERIENCE:
No specific type or amount is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet Explorer, Excellent customer service, good verbal and
written communication skills, strong organizational skills, integrity and confidentiality, detailed accurate oriented. Skills
Preferred: Ability to read floor plans, understanding of IRF and AVI files, knowledge of Michigan laws.
