Appendix 3: Calculation of probability of chemotherapy RDI<85%

X equals the 85% cut-off
μ equals the mean value of chemotherapy RDI, ie, 95.1% and 86.7% (based on Kuderer
et al [39] for the primary prophylaxis and the control arms, respectively)
δ equals the standard deviation
δ was not reported by Kuderer et al [39]. It was calculated based on an earlier metaanalysis of 14 RCTs [83], in which the sample size was 1,574 (N), and the 95% CI was
0.93-0.96 (standard error [SE] = 0.02), and 0.86-0.90 for the 2 arms (SE = 0.02),
respectively.
δ = SE*sqrt(N)≈0.404833
The calculated Z for the primary prophylaxis arm was -0.2495, and for the control arm
was
-0.0741. Therefore, the probabilities of RDI<85% were 0.4013 and 0.4721,
respectively, resulting a RR of approximately 0.86.
