Yoplait® Save Lids to Save Lives
General Mills has placed its partnership with ZTA in the Yoplait®
Save Lids to Save Lives® program on hold for 2014. This decision is the
result of a corporate review of General Mills’ marketing strategy and direction. General Mills has assured ZTA it greatly values our partnership
and views our 10-year involvement with Save Lids to Save Lives as a success for the company, breast cancer awareness efforts and women’s
health.
The Foundation is currently communicating with General Mills to
seek other potential avenues for continued partnership.

How
Northwest Zeta Day 2014
Over 200 alumnae and collegians joined
us at the Seattle Westin on April 26,
2014. Both collegiate chapters (Psi—
University of Washington, and Kappa
Mu—Linfield College) were represented,
as well as all three District XIX-A alumnae chapters. We had a wonderful
speaker, Marlene Dunbar Conrad, National Extension Director, who reminded
us, “How Sweet it is to be a ZTA.”

Special thanks to all those who supported the fundraising portion of the
program (even some that were not able to attend!) by purchasing a candy gram
to honor a special sister, buying raffle tickets, or bidding on silent auction
items. We raised over $8,000 for the ZTA Foundation, which will go towards
college scholarships, leadership and educational programming for our members
and breast cancer awareness and education. A big thanks also to the members
of the Seattle Alumnae Chapter for serving as the hostesses for Zeta Day, and
especially to our 2014 Zeta Day Chair Melissa Kline! The Portland Alumnae
Chapter will host Northwest Zeta Day 2015. If you would like to be a part
of the planning committee, please contact Mardee Austin at
[email protected] or 206-214-8562.

Nancy Ann Meagher Hicks
Memorial Endowed Scholarship
We are pleased to announce that Psi chapter has
chosen to partner with the Seattle Alumnae Chapter and the Hicks family to fund an endowed scholarship in Nancy Meagher Hicks’
memory. The scholarship endowment requires a $35K investment
with the ZTA Foundation. We
have three years to reach this goal,
with a goal of doing so by Psi

throughout her alumnae career,
most notably as a member of
National Council serving as VP Alumnae II from
1976-1978 and as the Fraternity Housing Corporation President from 1981-1982. She was a recipient
of the Certificate of Merit, the Honor Ring, and

daughter (Nancy Thomas) is also a Psi Chapter
alumna. Nancy has been greatly missed by her
sisters since she passed away May 8, 2013.
Psi alumna, Jaime Elduen Keith will be serving as
Seattle Alumnae’s Fundraising Chair, and concurrently as Psi’s Philanthropy/Fundraising Advisor to
help coordinate this effort from both chapters.
With Psi’s recent Silent Auction (over $4,000!),
and the Seattle Alumnae contributions so far, we
are already well on our way with over $8,000 raised
toward the required total of $35K. The Hicks/
Thomas family has agreed to contribute an
additional $3,000, with the possibility for future
contributions as well.
There will be many opportunities to support the
scholarship over the coming biennium, or you may
send your check (payable to ZTAF) to:
3450 Founders Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46268.
All donations are tax-deductible. Please be sure to
note in the memo line that your donation is for
the Nancy Hicks Memorial Endowed Scholarship,
so that your donation is processed correctly.
Congratulations to our 2014-2015 Seattle Alumnae Officers! These officers will meet in July, following Convention, to plan the next alumnae year. If you have any ideas, please let one of these women know.
