The First Sunday of Lent
F E B RU A RY 1 4 , 2 0 1 6
Dear Parishioners of St. Wenceslaus,
This past Wednesday was Ash Wednesday; I hope most of you were able to participate in an Ash Wednesday Mass to begin
Lent in the most appropriate way. There are a number of ways during this Lent that we can expose our life in the Lord with time
spent with Jesus.
This week we will begin having Stations of the Cross on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm and Friday afternoons at 2:45pm
throughout Lent. In addition, during Lent, we will be having a Holy Hour after each 10:30am Mass on Sunday mornings with
quiet prayer, devotions, Confessions (as time allows) and Benediction at 12:30. We will also have Mass each Friday during
Lent at 5:15pm. Of course, many graces and partial or plenary indulgences can be obtained during this holy season with visits to
the Blessed Sacrament, or if you wish to walk the Stations of the Cross on your own in the Church. May God bless you and your
families this Lent!
I hope you are taking advantage of one of the Lenten Study Sessions. If you want to be a part of one of the Lenten Study
Groups please sign up on the table behind the west pews. We will have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Fridays of Lent if
there is enough interest. Signup sheets will be on the table in the rear of the church.
We are excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with those of you who have signed up to have dinner
here in the Church Basement on Sunday evening at 5:40pm. Happy Valentine’s Day! In addition to
that, thank you to all of you who sent and extended Birthday greetings to me this past Saturday,
February 13. God bless you!
Have a Blessed First Full Week of Lent and a Holy Lenten Season.
Sincerely in Christ
Fr. Charles Townsend
