Spring Term 2016

SAFETY
We have buttons near our exit and are becoming concerned about children pressing these and allowing others into our
site or exiting without their parent. Please tell your child that the buttons are there to ensure only authorised people
are in our school and they should never let themselves out or others in.
Please remember to hold your child’s hand and walk with them as you leave school and not allow your child to run off
down the driveway. I have recently been informed of a few near misses where children have been running ahead of the
parent and very nearly had an accident. It is good to talk to your child about their day and their learning and to encourage them to share their experiences. Please remember to turn off your mobile phone when you meet your child so you
can engage with them, as they will have a lot to talk to you about.
LEARNING AND TEACHING PLANS
As I am sure you will be aware this terms whole school topic is Once upon a Time. I hope your children have
been telling you about the exciting activities they are engaging in. We hope you are supporting your child by
encouraging conversation about the new things they are learning. The plan for this half term covering the
main areas of learning is in the Parents Room on Fronter and we hope you find it informative. Please let
your child’s teacher know if you would like more information.
FIRST DAY ABSENCE
SEAL (SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL ASPECTS OF
LEARNING)
The theme for this half term is “Going for
Goals” and focuses on the key aspect of
motivation, with a subsidiary focus on selfawareness. It gives an important opportunity for all children’s abilities, qualities and
strengths to be valued.
The theme provides opportunities for children to reflect on themselves as individuals, particularly their strengths as learners
and how they learn most effectively.
Please remember to call the office before 10:00am if your
child is unable to attend school due to illness. If the school
has not been informed of a reason for an absence it is recorded as an unauthorised absence.
We were pleased to have 64 children that managed to attend school every day from the start of September until the
end of term in December and they achieved a 100% attendance award. We hope to have even more children attending every day this term.
Please remember to book holidays out of term time so your
child’s education is not disturbed. If you do have to take
your children out of school during term please remember
to write to ask permission before you book.
HATS and DVDs
If you have any hats of any kind which you no longer use please bring them to school as we would
like to replenish our role play areas. We would also like some more DVDs for our breakfast club so
would appreciate any suitable ones you may no long use at home. All support with these matters
would be greatly appreciated.
LITERACY INFORMATION MEETING
In response to requests from parents, there will be a repeat of the reading and writing presentation for
parents, which was held last term. This meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th February 2016 at 9.00am, in
the Infant School Hall.
Please inform the school office or your child’s class teacher if you will be attending. Thank you.
